Lenses and Coatings

Anti Scratch
Anti-scratch coating is a scratch resistant coating that can be applied to your lenses. Anti-scratch coating is very effective for lenses in prescription eyeglasses, and is particularly practical for children’s glasses.
An anti-scratch coating is applied by dipping the lenses into a silicone-based solvent. As the anti scratch coating cures, there is no tinting or coloring left behind to impair the optics of the lenses. The coating does not interfere with how the lens functions, but creates a permanent bond that greatly reduces the occurrence of happenstance hairline scratches. Though an anti-scratch coating is not 100% scratch proof, it helps to prevent minor scratches that can damage the surface of the lens.

Anti Reflective
Anti-reflective coatings are a type of optical coating applied to the surface of lenses to reduce reflection. This improves the efficiency of the eyeglasses since less light is lost. The primary benefit is the elimination of the reflection itself, and it makes the eyes of the wearer more visible.
Our special anti-reflective coating is the best solution for computer use and night driving. By increasing the light transmission through the lenses, it provides the wearer with the clearest vision at all times.

UV Coating
Another lens treatment that is beneficial but invisible to the naked eye is ultraviolet (UV) protection. Just as we use sunscreen to keep the sun's UV rays from harming our skin, UV treatment in eyeglass lenses blocks those same rays from damaging our eyes. Overexposure to ultraviolet light is thought to be a cause of cataracts, retinal damage and other eye problems.
An ultraviolet treatment is applied to most eyeglass lenses, and it does not change the appearance of the lenses at all. The exception is polycarbonate lenses, which don't need anti-UV treatment because it is an inherent property of the material.

Lenses with Tints
Another option in colored lenses is a tint.
Tints are are compatible with any type of lens and and available in Gray, Brown and Green. Lighter, fashion tints are used primarily for cosmetic purposes to enhance a wearer's looks. Darker tints allow the wearer to use the lenses as sunglasses.
Typically, fashion tints are applied in light pink, brown or gray, while sunglasses are usually gray or brown.

Single Vision Lenses

CR-39™ Plastic Lenses
Plastic lenses are our standard lenses using the highest optical-grade CR-39™ optical resin. CR-39™ Plastic Lenses are recommended for low-to-moderate prescriptions, between +2.00 and - 2.00.  If your prescription is higher than this, check out our Polycarbonate or Hi-Index Lenses (1.6/1.6)

1.56 Polycarbonate Lenses
Polycarbonate lenses are the most impact-resistant material of choice. With an index of refraction of 1.56, they are much thinner than standard (CR39) optical lenses. They also come with tough scratch-resistant coatings applied to both sides of the lenses, as well as polished lens edges, at no extra charge.
Standard polycarbonate lenses are generally recommended for prescription ranges between +/-4.00 (and/or cylinder ranges between +/-2.50). If your prescription is higher than this, check out our Hi-Index Lenses ( 1.6/1.67)

1.6 Hi Index Lenses – Super Thin

Hi-Index Lenses are our lens of choice for those with high prescriptions. They are our thinnest and lightest lenses. If you've never had Hi-Index lenses before, you'll be surprised how thin and light your eyeglass lenses can be!
They also come with tough scratch-resistant coatings applied to both sides of the lenses, as well as polished lens edges, at no extra charge.

1.67 Hi Index Lenses – Extra Thin

High Index - Extra Thin 1.67 lenses are our lens of choice for those with very high prescriptions. They are thinner than any other 1.6 high-index lenses. If you've never had 1.67-index lenses before, you'll be surprised how thin your eyeglass lenses can be! They also come with tough scratch-resistant coatings applied to both sides of the lenses, as well as polished lens edges, at no extra charge.
The lenses alone retail for over $200.00. We are proud to offer them to you for only an additional $49. Though they are generally recommended for prescriptions above +4.00/-6.00, they can make any prescription over +/- 3.00 (especially in larger frames) look great

Bi Focal Lenses
Bi-Focals have that light line just below the centerline of the lens that separate the distance upper part from the reading lower part of the lens.
These special dual purpose lenses have two different lens powers, meaning 2 separate parts - the upper part for distance and the lower part for reading. The best thing with Bifocals is it serves a dual purpose for those who hate changing from distance eyeglasses to reading glasses – TWO in ONE - a perfect solution!!

Progressive Lenses
Progressives are sometimes referred to as "no-line bifocals", "no-line trifocals", or "vari-focals." They provide a graduated range of vision from distance to near, without a line. These special dual purpose lenses have two different lens powers, meaning 2 separate parts - the upper part for distance and the lower part for reading.
Progressive lenses need to have an absolute minimum of 30 mm height, for a more comfortable viewing area. Progressive glasses are the most sensitive to a correct PD so be sure to take an especially accurate PD measurement for this type of order, though deviation of
±1.5mm is still OK.
